Saucony has been making running shoes in Pennsylvania since 1898, and for most of that time the brand was known to runners rather than to the street. The Grid cushioning system, introduced in 1991, gave the label its technical reputation; the ProGrid and Triumph lines that followed defined how a stability shoe was supposed to feel.

What changed in the last few years is where those shoes are worn. The ProGrid Omni 9, the Shadow 5000 and the Guide series have come back out of the archive with their original proportions intact, and they now sit alongside the retro running silhouettes that define the current market.
